A Simple Tip to Check Your Tire Tread

Ever wondered, "Do I need new tires yet?" or "Are my tires wearing evenly on all sides?".

Well, the best way to determine that would be with a tread-depth gauge. But who has one of those just sitting around?  Most tires will not pass an inspection if your tread depth is less than 2/32 inch.  A quick and easy way to determine this is with a penny.


Just place the penny into a number of different tread grooves across the tire. As long as Lincoln's head is covered by the tread you have more than enough to last (more than 2/32").  

Then again, if you find yourself seeing more and more of Lincoln's head or you notice that it's different all around the vehicle, it's time to start looking at  new tires -- or at the least, a tire rotation. Feel free ...[more]
